The Research Center of the Polytechnic of Leiria creates a 300-kilogram piece with a 3D printer

The Center for Rapid and Sustainable Product Development (CDRSP) of the Polytechnic of Leiria has created a 300-kilogram plastic piece designed to be a demonstrator for the mobilizing project Add.Additive, led by ADIRA, a company of the Sonae Capital Group, with the participation of several Portuguese universities and companies, including PERIPLAST.

Perhaps the largest piece made by 3D printing in Portugal with a Portuguese extrusion system.

There are companies in the United States making ton-scale parts and only a few in Europe, according to Artur Mateus, at the time, director of CDRSP.

It is a "small module of a bus stop" that took about 20 hours to produce, which was conceived and designed by Weadd and produced using Periplast technology.
